A Rochester-based testing lab is one of more than a dozen across New York ensuring the safety of cannabis products sold in the state.

She hopes to streamline the ability of the NYS Office of Cannabis Management to padlock illicit shops, as well as expand the ability to do so to local governments. Another proposed addition would be creating a local registry of licensed cannabis businesses. Certainty Analytical Labs on East Main Street is doing just that by ensuring products sold through legal cannabis entrepreneurs and cultivators meet state standards.

Illegal cannabis shops not only pose a health threat, but they can impact those taking the proper steps to sell their products.
