Rallies over the war between Israel and Hamas are happening across the globe. Here locally, action groups are speaking out.
" rallied out at the statehouse Sunday night. The group is made up of OSU students.People from the Jewish community were also at this rally; both sides holding very different views.Students For Justice in Palestine say they want to bring awareness to what they believe Palestinians have endured, which they describe as suffering and human rights violations under Israeli government.
The Palestinians have been living under occupation for 75 years, which like I said is very inhumane violation. It violates international law. It deprives them of basic human rights, and so therefore the Palestinians have a right to resist," said Heba Latif, one leader of the group. Fighting in Israel continues on, just one day after Hamas fighters breached the border from Gaza in a surprise attack.
I read many messages from leaders condemning these terrorist attacks. Israel has the right to defend itself. But let me ask you: where was this outcry when Israeli soldiers invaded and massacred dozens in Jenin refugee camp?" said Bayan Abusneineh, a speaker during the rally.These people here should be ashamed of themselves because I'd like to have any one of these people come out and say 'whatever happens, this is wrong,'" said Larry Levine.
