The provincewide LCBO strike is affecting approximately 130 workers in Greater Sudbury

During Day 7 of provincewide strike action, local NDP MPPs Jamie West and France Gélinas joined LCBO workers at the picket line on The Kingsway.

“Ideology” on the part of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, which she said supports privatization, led to the strike action and is preventing it from ending. At the centre of these privatization concerns is Premier Doug Ford rolling out an alcohol everywhere plan in which more retail outlets will be able to sell alcoholic beverages.

How convenient, local strike captain Chris Bedard told Sudbury.com at the picket line on Thursday, “which is funny, because they’re trying to put in more places.” “This is Doug Ford’s agenda,” West said. “He has promised people, a lot of his wealthy donors, that he’s going to privatize and they’ll get a slice of the profit.”
