Police say the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot as the vehicle crashed
A 35-year-old driver is facing a slew of charges after officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attempted a traffic stop early this morning.
Police say that, around 2:30 a.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Wellington Street West and say the driver failed to stop and fled the area while driving erratically. The driver allegedly opened the door while the vehicle was moving and jumped out before fleeing the area on foot while the vehicle struck a pole in the 300 block of Beverley Street.Police say a search of the accused found brass knuckles, a hatchet, a small quantity of a substance believed to be heroin, suspected cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
