University of Mobile and Springhill College are offering BSC scholarships to Birmingham-Southern students after BSC announcing the school will be closing at the end of May.
Springhill College and University of Mobile say they want to help students during this unprecedented time.
The nearly 170-year-old college met its demise after ongoing financial struggles. On Tuesday, the College Board of Trustees voted unanimously to close BSC after a bill designed to secure proper funding failed to win support in the Alabama House. “I feel like I’m a senior in high school having to apply to all of these other schools again, go back- and then also not get the same kind of opportunities as a freshman coming in. I never really thought I’d be transferring to another school so it’s a little weird,” added Hartley.“I want to find somewhere I can fit- I know it won’t be the same as Birmingham Southern but somewhere I can be active on campus,” said Hartley.
