Local gardening businesses team up for Seedy Saturday

The Superior Gardener and Flowers With Flair teamed up at the Bruce Street flower shop today for Seedy Saturday – an event aimed at helping locals get off to the right start for the upcoming growing season.

The Superior Gardner owner Lindsey Palumbo says gardening started off as a hobby, but she took her passion to the next level and eventually sprouted her own business during the pandemic. Palumbo maintains an 800-square-foot garden and a greenhouse year-round at her home, where she grows over 150 varieties of seeds.

“The ground is still really saturated because the snow is still melting,” she says. “We’re going to get a lot more rain, too, so it’s too wet for planting still.” Palumbo says Seedy Saturday at the Flowers With Flair shop is the first time she’s gone outside the house and put her seeds on a racked display.

Wilson’s niece Tree Erickson was back working at the flower shop for Seedy Saturday after spending some time away with her newborn, and she was excited to return on what turned out to be a beautiful April day.
