LONDON—The Premier League title race hasn’t really been much of a race in more than six months—it’s more like a Liverpool parade that 19 other teams were invited to.
The club took over first place in Week 2 of the season and hasn’t been disturbed since. Its lead is now a soul-crushing 22 points with three months to go, and no one can do anything about it. Lifting the trophy is the last remaining formality. For the Premier League, a season-long procession is rarely a good thing.
