UAE, Saudis announce stimulus measures to bolster economies battered by coronavirus pandemic
Saudi Arabia has said it will make $13 billion available, also for loans to struggling companies. The stimulus packages also come as the oil-dependent economies in the region are battered by the recent plunge in oil prices. While, flights continue from Dubai airport, one of the busiest in the world, the UAE will no longer issue visas from March 17 onward. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has suspended all international flights for the next two weeks.
One more person died, bringing the death toll to 22 from Japan’s domestic caseload and seven from the cruise ship, while a total 46 people remain in serious condition, NHK reported. Japan’s government has been expanding its capacity to test people for the virus after intense criticism early on in the epidemic over a shortage of tests.
