The Texas State Teachers Association slammed the state’s decision to take over the largest school district in Texas, calling it an “injustice” in light of recent student progress. “Abbott is less interested in supporting HISD and other public schools than he is in privatizing them,” she said.Shortly after the takeover was announced, HISD superintendent Millard House II sent an email to parents promising a smooth transition.
“I wish people would stop saying 'Wheatley is a failure,'” Kathy Blueford Daniels, a Wheatley alum and HISD board member, said. “Our children are hearing that, and they are thinking they are failures.
