first put out the idea that the transit line won’t open before the end of next year and so far, neither the Ford government nor Metrolinx are denying the report.“There are still many risks in the project schedule that prevent us from being able to give a confirmed opening date,” Metrolinx said in a statement Wednesday.

When governments create arm’s length agencies, they always claim that it is to take the politics out of the situation. What they really mean is that they don’t want the blame when things go wrong.We can’t fire Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster by voting him out at the next election. Given the mess that the Crosstown has become, it’s shocking that the Ford government just renewed Verster’s contract rather than show him the door.
