In both byelections, the NDP did well with strong third place showings, but it wasn’t enough to win a seat. Before the votes were even tallied, a nameless federal Conservative operative was pushing the narrative that the PCs lost because their federal cousins refused to help..This version of events says the decision by federal HQ to withhold the support of as many as 80 interns who could have been door knocking was payback because the Ontario PCs hadn’t helped the feds in the recent Oxford byelection.
