Two men facing public allegations they are part of an election interference network want to clear their names. They need a public inquiry.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said that Ke left his caucus in order to clear his name and will be welcomed back if and when that happens.

The Ford government has known about the allegations against Ke since last November when Global News approached them for a story, but Ke’s name wasn’t published until March 10, the same day he left caucus. On Tuesday, Ford said he didn’t act to remove Ke from caucus in November because at first, he only had a media report and when CSIS briefed Ford’s chief of staff weeks later he said it was rather vague — a claim he repeated Wednesday.

“We live in a democratic society, and no one’s going to dictate to any Ontarian, who they should vote for and what party they should vote for. That’s our democratic right,” Ford said.last November and through his lawyer, who answered detailed questions.
