“We can mend cracks in our city.” From brianlilley: Chow joins race for mayor's chair but won't talk tax hikes

“We’ve seen what’s happened to cities like Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco when far left agendas like Olivia Chow’s are in control. As mayor, I will put the needs of regular Toronto family’s first,” Furey said.Article content

Mark Saunders, campaigning on the need for bail reform to stop the revolving door of repeat violent offenders, took aim at Chow’s record on spending and public safety. Saunders pointed to Chow’s record of trying to cut police budgets while on city council and voting against tougher sentences for people using guns in the commission of crimes.

On the matter of taxes, the Saunders campaign highlighted Chow’s record of opposing tax cuts but supporting increases and even voting for a hefty salary increase for herself when she was a school trustee in the late 1980s. Given Chow’s long record of public service, her record will give her plenty to run on and plenty for her opponents to attack her with.We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Toronto can’t afford the spending plans of either of them and with their anti-police track records, they likely aren’t the best choice for the city at this point. If it becomes a choice between these three candidates then Saunders will be looking better by the day.
