A dog therapy program organized by the Pet Access League Society is making a heartwarming difference in the lives of hospital patients ahead of the Easter long weekend.

Several dogs visited patients and family members at the Peter Lougheed Centre Tuesday evening, sparking an extra bit of joy in the lives of those who needed it most.

"From seeing him interacting with the dog, I think it’s really helping him," said Theo’s mother, Cara-Lee Kitsul. "If you are petting a cat or a dog, it lowers your blood pressure, it releases dopamine in your brain and it allows you a break from whatever it is happening in the world," she said. "These interactions benefit patients, families, and staff alike by providing unconditional comfort and companionship, while bringing joy, solace, and support to those going through difficult times.
