Lightning, Ross Colton settle on two-year, $2.25M contract

The Lightning and restricted free agent centre Ross Colton have avoided arbitration with a two-year, $2.25-million deal.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Monday the two sides have agreed to a two-year, $2.25-million deal.

Colton had nine goals and three assists in 30 regular season games, including a goal and an assist in his NHL debut against the Carolina Hurricanes on Feb. 24. The 24-year-old from Robbinsville, N.J., scored the Stanley Cup-clinching goal in Game 5 as the Lightning shut out the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 in the decisive game. Colton, a fourth-round pick in 2016, finished with four goals and two assists in 23 playoff games., and avoid posting profanity, personal attacks or harassment.
