Some parts of Northeast Ohio already had up to 3 inches of rain, with more possible overnight, the National Weather Service says.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio residents are being told to avoid travel if possible as a string of storms dumped heavy rain, resulting in possibly “life-threatening” flash flooding.
The Painesville Police Department reports flooding has closed off underpasses on North State Street and Richmond Street. The Weather Service issued flash flood warnings Wednesday night for Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina counties and they will remain in effect until 1:45 a.m. Thursday. There were reports of quarter-size hail and winds up to 60 mph from thunderstorms in Lorain, Medina, Erie, Huron, Ashland and Wayne counties.
