The Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library have awarded over $100K in prize money in the first three months
THUNDER BAY — After winning the Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library 50/50, Robert Vanderwey was quick to identify his priority.
"I'll definitely be taking my wife out for dinner first," he said when he picked up a cheque for $27,165. Vanderwey is the latest winner of the jackpot in the monthly fundraiser that has awarded a cumulative total of $102,840 in its first three months. "I've seen all the great work that the library does for the community, so I was happy to give back by supporting the Friends lottery," he said. Fran Duke, president of the Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library, said the group is excited to pass the $100,000 milestone in prize money.
"Every ticket sold doesn't just offer a chance to win. It directly supports the vibrant programs and resources of our beloved library. Our community continues to prove that when we come together, we can create real, meaningful impact here at home."
