A multi\u002Dparty group of Canadian MPs have been pressing the government to bring the group of former MPs from Afghanistan to Canada.
Immigration Minister Sean Fraser’s office said in a statement that the “minister does not pick and choose among the more than one million people who’ve expressed interest in coming to Canada.”Article content
Fraser’s office said there are now 30,000 Afghan refugees in Canada, and among them “are hundreds of women leaders, including judges, human rights defenders, journalists, community organizers, and members of parliament.” T The women need documents that would enable them to enter Pakistan, she said, and there’s “zero reason why it should take months and months to get these women to safety.”Ruff said he personally “warned Minister Fraser to his face” in December, when he told him this wasn’t a partisan issue that needed to be in the media, but that Fraser needed to act before “something bad” happened.Article content
“And then unfortunately, when the West has left, and the country has been retaken, by the Taliban. We’re just leaving these people to the side,” he said.
