Despite withdrawing from the race, Liberal MPs are actively campaigning for Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc to reconsider his decision and run for the party leadership.

Some Liberal MPs are urging Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc to reconsider his decision not to run for the party leadership. Liberal MP Judy Sgro stated that she is spearheading an internal effort to persuade him to enter the competition, adding that 'more than a dozen MPs' she spoke to on Wednesday strongly desire him to change his stance. 'Absolutely, he should reconsider,' she emphasized. 'Dominic is immensely qualified, experienced, been here a long time, grew up in politics, understands how it all works. I think he'd be a fabulous leader to take us into the next election.' MP Yasir Naqvi confirmed that 'a lot of effort' is being invested in convincing LeBlanc to run. His caucus colleague Francesco Sorbara shared that he personally urged LeBlanc to join the race, believing he would be a formidable candidate. Jennifer O'Connell, who, along with Mark Gerretsen, publicly expressed their plea on social media, asserted that LeBlanc 'has what it takes to beat Pierre Poilievre and I think he has broad support from caucus.' Just before Wednesday's caucus meeting commenced, LeBlanc surprised many of his fellow Liberal MPs by posting a statement on social media expressing gratitude to his supporters for their encouragement and stating his decision not to participate in the upcoming leadership contest. The New Brunswick MP wrote that Canada is 'at a critical juncture in its relationship with its most important ally and trading partner, the United States.' LeBlanc told reporters prior to the meeting that he was genuinely moved by the encouragement his caucus colleagues extended to him to seek the leadership
