Reader Jane McCall still remembers former NDP Premier Dave Barrett with fondness

We have never had a more activist government in our history. I still remember Dave Barrett with fondness.Canadians are all for best-before dates, even if they lead to food waste Dairy farms in B.C. are family businesses. We shop in the same local grocery stores as our neighbours, and understand very directly how hard it can be to absorb the rising cost of food — produce, meat, bread and, yes, dairy.
How grievous to read of $130,000 of our tax funds awarded to one Laith Marouf, supposedly to promote anti-racism in a cross-country tour, while in reality spouting “reprehensible and vile antisemitic comments, racial slurs and taunts.” Reading the entire article leaves one shaken and furious with the current federal government and its officials. Surely if they do not have the smarts to check out a ‘well established history of hateful remarks,’ before wasting funds on poorly-researched grants, let us, as taxpaying Canadians, do a bit of research ourselves before voting in the next federal election.I hope Premier John Horgan reads my letter about the healthcare crisis in B.C.
