Re: Vancouver is worth fighting for
Other than the headline “Vancouver is Worth Fighting For“ there are many Vancouverites, including myself, who would strongly disagree with almost everything that Lothar Wiwjorra espouses in the letter that appeared on May 14. If it was up to Mr. Wiwjorra, there would be no one living in Vancouver at all, as he describes every amazing advancement in this city as an abomination.
The master planning of Yaletown, which took it from shabby light industrial warehouses to a vibrant community of 40,000 people, is a marvel. Canada is inviting over 400,000 new residents into this great country each year, in addition to our natural growth rate, which includes children moving out of their parents’ homes. We all know that Vancouver is blessed with mountains and ocean and beaches and amazing parks. We have abundant sustainable fresh water and clean hydro electric power. We also have a good economy and lots of available jobs. People are not going to stop coming here.
