Letters to the Editor
Readers appreciate a student who helped his neighbors; the artistry of Michael Hogue; and the kindness of Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy.
A Dallas Morning News reader appreciates the artwork of Michael Hogue, including this piece from the June 9 Opinion cover.— I live in the Melissa community. Lightning struck our home one morning during the recent storms and it subsequently caught on fire. Our sweet neighbor, Blake Omindo, a student at McKillop Elementary School, saw the fire and told his dad. They are the ones that called 911 and knocked on our door to tell us that our house was on fire.
Because the fire started in the attic, the smoke detectors did not go off right away. Blake and his father probably saved a lot of our home and potentially the lives of our family by acting so quickly. Blake saw something and spoke up.
It is refreshing to see such compassion shown by DeChambeau and McIlroy. We need more of this from all of us.
