It might help shorten strikes and negotiations if Ontario passed a law that all unions should provide directions where the government or corporation get the new money. For businesses, the sources are from profits, raised prices, cut staff. Since public services/governments have no money of their own, sources suggested could be people pay more tax, lay off staff or transfer from other departments/services.
Now, no doubt, the unions will continue their unfounded accusations and turn the negotiating into a circus but, hopefully, proper, calm discussion can proceed. Ford, despite the usual media lack of any journalistic honesty, did not ‘lose,’ nor did he ‘back away’ from this issue, he acted 100% for the kids — the only losers in this whole debacle — and he should be given credit for having the backbone to do this. The union claiming a ‘win’ is laughable.
