And recent newspaper articles state 66,000 Niagara residents are currently living in poverty because the region doesn’t have enough employers that provide living wage jobs. Over 15% of Niagara’s population will not be able to acquire and maintain a basic level of living standards.
So, what are the chances these asylum claimants will be able to enhance their quality of life?
