Readers question Speaker McCarthy targeting the IRS; don’t agree with just monitoring the electric grid; and question wind power’s reliability.

I consider myself to be an independent voter and try to keep an open mind regarding political parties and their individual members. While watching the recent speaker voting process, it was hard to cast aside the question, how are legislators going to be able to govern our country in the near future? Reducing security restrictions at the Capitol begs the question, why would you do this? To make it more comfortable for anyone who might want to have another insurrection? Who wins if security at the Capitol is reduced? I guess for me, the future is becoming clearer: Minority, strange platforms are closer than ever to ruling over the majority.It’s astonishing that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s top priority is defunding the IRS.

The structure they are recommending will benefit natural gas producers by incentivizing the building of more natural gas power plants. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has said he will continue to call special sessions until he gets legislation passed to build more natural gas plants to generate electricity. He seems to see our state as the “Saudi Arabia of natural gas.”
