CHANGES NEEDED

Page 5 of the Sun on Jan. 5 the headline reads: “Cops say goodbye.” Michele Mandel writes a heart-wrenching column on the funeral of OPP Const. Greg Pierzchala, who was horrendously ambushed and murdered. The accused was out on bail at the time and he was under a lifetime weapons and ammunition ban. There was also another outstanding warrant in place for his arrest for assault and firearms possession. This apparently also involved another OPP officer. I then proceeded forward to Page 11.

Who are these so-called expert justices and Crown attorneys that allow people out on bail when they should remain incarcerated until their trial dates, regardless of how long that takes. Enough is enough — this revolving-door bail situation has got to stop now! Do something, Ottawa! One is too many innocent law enforcement officers dying doing their jobs because of judicial incompetence and asinine federal laws.
