Municipal elections take place Nov. 7 across P.E.I. The election for school board trustees in the Engllish and French language school boards is by mail-in ballot and will be announced Nov. 10.Our municipal election is just around the corner. Sadly, we do not have a system of ranked ballots here which would go a long way to choosing our preferred candidate and that includes our choice for mayor.
• If no candidate passes the threshold on the first round, then the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated. Additionally, the process has been almost totally limited to the realm of the virtual world. Many Islanders are unaware that this election is even happening. Education is something that is of concern to all Islanders, not just those who spend time using the Internet. Everyone of legal voting age should have equal opportunity to participate in determining who will be responsible for oversight of our education system.
Just stop and think of the problems of yesteryear which are now either gone or almost gone. The money used to hire companies to figure a possible way around the problems are now history!
