Derek Ellis, director of sustainability for the department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action stands by an electric charging station in downtown Charlottetown. - Rafe Wright/SaltWire Network File PhotoA recent letter to your paper praises the changes made at the so-called Ken’s Corner intersection . I agree – to a point. There seems to be some confusion on turning right on Longworth on to Euston .

My email, July 6: “At the 'new and improved' Ken's Corner intersection, I'm told you can't turn right from Longworth onto Euston on a red light. The lane is clearly marked right turn only and there is no 'No right turn on red light' sign. Please advise. Some people are not turning on red, but why? With no sign, I see no reason to wait other than yielding to traffic.”

Response from public works engineer: “You are correct. Right turns from Longworth onto Euston are permitted on a red light as long as you follow the guidelines stating you are to come to a complete stop and wait until the way is clear. If a right turn was not permitted, there would be signage stating that.”Electric vehicle subsidies are government waste

The story in the Aug. 23 Guardian about the province supporting the installation of recharging stations for EVs, and of the up to $10,000 subsidy for the purchase of these expensive, limited-use, toy cars, is a story of obscene government waste.

It might make some sense if such measures were going to save us all from some unimaginable climate catastrophe in the near future, but that is not happening. It is just another example of the panic-stricken moves towards a net-zero-carbon economy that are leading to economic disaster for all Canadians, even eventually the “elite” who are legislating these unwarranted measures.I was quite stunned to learn Roundup was still widely in use across the province.
