Letters to the editor for June 6

Sixty years of almost uninterrupted conservative rule has never produced a balanced budget independent of oil revenues, has maintained our one-horse economy and left nothing in the bank.

And the best news of all is that, if the Conservatives could not be beaten in the current election, then we are assured of benefiting from another 60 years of conservative rule and low taxes, of climate-change denial and the illusion that oil will keep going forever.Arriving in Alberta in 1974 as an overseas emigrant, Alberta politics has always puzzled me — even as an active Alberta political party contributor and a 2012 election candidate.

Albertans need a stable and focused government with the objective of creating a stable economy with steady employment, a reliable health-care system and a much improved K-12 education system with max class sizes of 20. Let’s cross our fingers for that finally happening and that our government won’t stray and devote its efforts to an Alberta pension plan and police force, and escalate Ottawa bashing, which are far from the priorities of most Albertans.
