An Arlington Heights letter to the editor: I am writing to express my concern over the way students and community members are underrepresented in decisions made by District 211.
I am writing to express my concern over the way students and community members are underrepresented in decisions made by District 211. It is unacceptable that for decades individuals have repeatedly been continued to be overlooked and underserved by our education system and school district.
As taxpayers, we expect our money to be used wisely and effectively, but it seems that our funds in the district are not being allocated appropriately to help our students succeed. We need to see more programs and resources directed toward uplifting and supporting students, families and community members. This includes providing a culturally relevant curriculum, creating safe spaces for all students and for our school board members to work together and end the political tension with one another.
it is also imperative that D211 take a closer look at how they are handling our tax dollars. It is simply not enough to say that they are being used for the betterment of our schools without providing transparency and accountability to the community. We need to know exactly where our money is going and how it is being used to benefit our community.
It is time for the district to step up and prioritize the needs of its constituents. We cannot continue to ignore the voices of the community.
