Took this photo at the close of the day to signify the loss of a critical element of our town's infrastructure with the impending closure of Scotiabank.
Others may think differently, but my considered opinion is that the closure of the bank will be a devastating blow to the economy as it is such a vital component of the life line of the town and surrounding communities.
Once the doors of our bank close for good, all that money will be spent in Gander. A great boost for the economy of Gander and the Walmarts of the world, but another big nail in the coffin of rural Newfoundland, as it is not just our bank that is on the chopping block.
