The Supreme Court determined that most trials should be completed within 18 to 30 months after an individual is charged. The stay of proceedings involved a case of impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving causing injury from a car crash in 2018 in Coxheath. It should be noted that delays can sometimes be initiated by the Crown over disclosure issues or by the Defence, as when a lawyer is removed from a case.
