Carbon tax protest at Nova Scotia-New Brunswick border | SaltWire #newbrunswick #novascotia #rallyI feel blessed to have been born on Sept. 21, 1957, at St. Rita’s Hospital in Sydney, a place which is the home of my heart. But I truly can't be overjoyed how it has turned out here and right across our once proud and prosperous country.

Now, shamefully, our economy is run on borrowed finances and sin taxes pried out of us. Our dollars now have very little spending power and are shrinking annually. This has resulted in a high percentage of Canadians not being in a good place in life financially and struggling to survive with more surely to follow. The male dominated political parties we entrust to look after our best interests would prefer if the masses believe everything is fine while they lead us down a path of prosperity.

I believe it is time they should because in reality these politicians have us now buried in an avalanche of debt. Canada is now at least $1.3 trillion in debt and that amount is rising daily. It would be delusional to believe this can continue and we must all accept some of the responsibility for allowing it to happen. Now we must put a stop to this insanity of spending that supposedly is in our best interests.

Having politicians cut up their credit cards would be a step in the right direction if there is to be any hope for our future generations. May God bless us all.SaltWire Network welcomes letters on matters of public interest for publication.
