Letter: LGBTQ people have 'spent decades bleeding, and BYU’s response, repeatedly, has been to tell us that our pain doesn’t matter, and we should keep suffering in silence,' writes Katelyn in Logan. 'Ultimately, though, it only strengthens my resolve.'

A year after the touching demonstration where students and community members lit up the Y in rainbow colors, the university has banned demonstrations in the area. They cite safety concerns, but their real intentions are completely transparent.

Me, and all my LGBTQ+ siblings, not just at BYU but across the state, just want access to the same privileges our cisgender and heterosexual peers have. It isn’t profane to be myself in the same way others around me are allowed to.
