I was pleased to read the editorial in which The Guardian entreats governments to be more proactive in dealing with the effects of global warming rather being reactive in trying to stop it. That is a futile quest as any reading of science will confirm.
Yes, the world has warmed, and it may continue to do so, or it may start to cool down in a few years. We just don't know. Instead of wasting billions in pretending we can turn down the climate, we could be doing a great deal more to reduce forest fires, restore the fertility of farm soils, the health of rivers, and the health of ocean fisheries, to name a few issues that we can do something about, but only if we don't ruin the economy with all the net-zero nonsense.
