Shelter officials said Pursuit, the longest canine resident, must be put down because he is unpredictable. But experienced volunteers disagree. Now a protest is planned.
PennLive has received dozens of emails from people across the country eager to help Pursuit.
But after the article published, Pursuit was moved into isolation and it’s unclear whether volunteers will get to say goodbye as promised. Some advocates noted that the Humane Society on Dec. 16 posted on Facebook that Pursuit could be adopted, and wanted to find a home for Christmas. Now, they say they don’t understand why he must be put to death, less than two months later.
But volunteers told PennLive Pursuit hasn’t bitten anyone and they are unaware of any incidents beyond his current condition of not easily warming up to strangers. Volunteers shared videos with PennLive showing him doing tricks in the yard and licking their face. They say they understand Pursuit needs special attention, but they believe he could turnaround any issues once out of the shelter.
