It would be safe to say there are some Lego fans on PH; the only forum thread longer than the 390-page non-Technic Lego one is the 393-page, er, Technic Lego one. We're also going to assume that F1 is a pretty hot topic, given the Abu Dhabi GP is still being discussed , and there's plenty of chatter around the 2022 cars with only the Haas revealed. By that logic, combining Formula 1 and Lego ought to be popular...
This McLaren Racing kit is the first time that a Formula 1 car has been offered as a Lego Technic build. It's comprised of 1,432 pieces - including moving pistons, steering and suspension - and measures 65cm long, 27mm wide and 13cm high. Though painted in the 2021 shade of Papaya Orange seen on the MCL35M, this car is said to offer"an interpretation of the new-look 2022 F1 race cars as the sport heads into an era of refreshed regulations.
Both Lego and McLaren see some nice synergies between their brands here, too; apparently the build"is designed to reflect the shared McLaren and Lego Group values of pioneering design and cutting-edge technology, while enabling fans to explore their passion for the sport." Just don't let that passion get the better of you if the build is difficult...
McLaren Racing's Technical Director James Key said:"We are excited to unveil the unique Lego Technic model of our McLaren F1 car... This has been made possible by an agile collaboration with the Lego Group team, who have truly embraced the spirit of our brave and bold approach to design. The final product looks fantastic, and we cannot wait to make this available to our fans."
