Hochul blasted the committee following the vote, arguing LaSalle had been shafted by pols already set in their intention to vote him down. LaSalle, the presiding justice of the State Supreme Court’s 2nd Appellate Division and a Long Island native, waslast month to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Chief Judge Janet DiFiore, and would have been the first Latino to serve in the role.
