The series tells the story of Queenie Jenkins, a young Black woman navigating two cultures and facing life's challenges. Whitmore will play the character Sadbh, possibly a doctor or nurse. After recently breaking up with her white boyfriend, Queenie (played by Dionne Brown) plans to be on the rebound in a big way, while simultaneously trying to keep her head above water as one of the only young Black women working at a (fictional) London newspaper, The Daily Read.
