The Times Colonist Christmas Fund is nearing its goal, but a last-minute surge in donations is needed to match or surpass last year's total. Donations received by December 31st will qualify for a 2024 tax receipt.
The deadline for obtaining a tax receipt for charitable donations is approaching quickly. To contribute to the Times Colonist Christmas Fund and receive a 2024 tax receipt, donations must be received or mailed by the end of day on Tuesday, December 31. The fund currently stands at $1,110,233.25, nearing our goal of matching or surpassing the $1.12 million raised in the 2023 campaign. A last-minute surge in donations is anticipated to propel the 2024 total even higher.
Donations benefit charitable organizations that assist individuals in need during the Christmas season and throughout the year. The most convenient method to donate is through tcchristmasfund.com, which is linked to CanadaHelps, a 24/7 platform offering immediate tax receipts. Alternatively, a cheque can be mailed to Times Colonist Christmas Fund, 201-655 Tyee Rd., Victoria, B.C. V9A 6X5 (postmarked by December 31), dropped off at our office during business hours on Monday or Tuesday, or arranged for free pickup and delivery via Maximum Express (call dispatch at 250-721-3278 or email). For credit card donations, calls can be made to our Christmas Fund telephone line from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday or Tuesday at 250-995-4438. Organizations receiving support were selected in collaboration with volunteers from the local chapter of the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller, who identified charities with the greatest need and those demonstrating efficient financial management. Gratitude extends to everyone who has contributed to this worthy cause
