He could move ahead of Irwin in two weeks at the Cologuard Classic.
NAPLES, Fla. -- Bernhard Langer now shares the honor of being the winningest golfer in the history of the 43-year history of PGA Tour Champions.
Moving ahead of Irwin could come as early as the next tournament, the Cologuard Classic in Tucson, Ariz., in two weeks. Langer has won there in the past, but he was savoring win No. 45 Sunday without looking past that. Langer was tied for the lead after the first round on the Black Course at Tiburon Golf Club and led by 1 after Saturday's second round. He bettered his age in posting a 64 on Friday and matched his age with a 65 on Sunday. His 17-under-par 199 resulted in a 3-stroke victory margin, but the historic win wasn't that easy.
