The Municipality of Brighton has completed a land transfer with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board that will allow it to move forward with its planned Emergency Service Base. The municipality is acquiring approximately one acre of property from the school that connects Elizabeth Street to the back of the current fire hall. The lot will be turned into turf for school use.
Mayor Brian Ostrander says, “We are pleased to be able to work with our partners in education on a land swap that will allow the municipality to move forward with our planned Emergency Service Base.” The school board has committed funding, as part of the land exchange, to revitalize the yard, including relocating the butterfly garden, moving basketball nets, or possibly building an outdoor classroom.
