Wanted: police officers. What Lancaster City is doing to fill positions.
The Lancaster City Bureau of Police is recruiting officers. Like many departments across the country, Lancaster is facing a shortage of about thirty officers.It's launching a new recruiting effort. Next Wednesday, the department will hold a recruiting open house, which consists of three different tours throughout the day.Those interested can tour the station, including the firing range, where officers do much of their use of force training. You can ask officers questions.
There are slots available, but there is also information about other events if you can't make it to the open house.The Lancaster Bureau is also changing its physical fitness test to an obstacle course. The Bureau is seeking a variety of applicants and is working to increase female membership.Sgt. Todd Grager works as the community engagement officer.
