Lake Creek's longest playoff run came to an end with a loss to state power Pflugerville in the regional quarterfinals.COLLEGE STATION — A historic season for the Lake Creek girls basketball team came to a tough end Tuesday evening against one of the state’s best in the Region III-5A quarterfinals.
Lake Creek, which did not start a senior and only had one on its roster, finished 25-10 and made program history by getting to the third round of the playoffs. Lake Creek fought Pflugerville admirably early on, trailing 13-9 at the end of the first quarter and 24-16 at the half. “Their defense was amazing and I knew that coming in to the game,” Simmons said. “We worked on handling the pressure and feeling the pressure. It’s tough. The way they deny the ball, they’re just so quick. They have great anticipation. They help each other out. They move as a unit.”
