Lake Creek softball dominates Canyon to claim second consecutive state title
AUSTIN — Rising to the occasion has not been a problem for Lake Creek, and the team proved it once again Saturday on the biggest stage.The No. 1 team in the country looked the part and now has another big, shiny trophy to bring back to Montgomery.
Lake Creek outscored its opponents 396-55 this season, and the program now has a 157-13 overall record under the leadership of head coach Michelle Rochinski since its inaugural campaign in 2019. Lake Creek senior pitcher and Florida signee Ava Brown was named the title game’s Most Valuable Player for the second straight year. She pitched a one-hit shutout — just like she did in the championship bout a year ago — and struck out 15 batters while walking one.
