BREAKING: Labour has taken an 11 point lead in the polls folllowing the partygate scandal, a new survey suggests.
Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour would have a 24-seat majority if the results were translated to a general election, pollsters believe It comes as increasing numbers of Tory MPs break cover to call for the PM to resign.– but did not clarify whether she has joined those submitting a letter of no confidence in his leadership.
The Savanta ComRes poll puts Labour on 42%, up two points from the last poll, and Mr Johnson’s Conservatives down three on 31%. It is the largest Labour lead since the beginning of February and would translate to a 24-seat majority for Labour at a General Election, based on current and possibly new constituency boundaries, according to polling aggregatorMeanwhile, Brexiteer Ms Leadsom’s intervention is being seen as particularly damaging by many observers, despite her not explicitly saying that she has personally written to the 1922 committee. If 54 Tory MPs do, then the PM will face a vote of confidence.
