Texas Rangers executive vice president and general manager Chris Young told reporters on Tuesday that the 23-year-old right-hander has a torn ligament in his pitching elbow and will undergo Tommy John surgery this week.
Rocker suffered an “acute” injury while pitching that was different than anything the club had noticed in previous exams, Young said,The Mets selected Rocker out of Vanderbilt at No. 10 overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, agreeing on a $6 million signing bonus, butRocker’s agent Scott Boras insisted at the time that the pitcher was healthy.Texas Rangers pitcher and former Mets draft pick Kumar Rocker will undergo Tommy John surgery.
