Screen Rant is tickled to present an exclusive clip from Koala Man, Hulu's latest comedy that has just become available for screening. Coming directly from the mind of Smiling Friends co-creator Michael Cusack, the 8-episode first season indulges in the adult animation style of fellow Hulu show Solar Opposites. In fact, Solar Opposites and Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland serves as an executive producer alongside Detective Pikachu writers Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Koala Man follows Kevin , a middle-aged resident of the Australian town of Dapto who moonlights as the unofficial superhero Koala Man. He juggles his daily duties as the husband of Vicky and father of twins Alison and Liam alongside his higher calling of cleaning up Dapto's streets. He may not have superpowers or even the super-toned body of his boss Big Greg , but he has the biggest heart around and delusions of grandeur on his side.
Audiences will have to watch "The Red Hot Rule" to learn whether Vicky can overcome her disappointment to fully support her daughter's ambitions. The fact that she already puts up with Koala Man as a concept and allows Kevin his midlife crisis, however, suggests that she will muster up the willpower needed. The larger question is whether Kevin has what it takes to be the hero Dapto needs when the odds are stacked so highly against him.
Koala Man is a perfect choice for fans of adult animated comedies such as Rick and Morty and Bob's Burgers, which are both also available to watch on Hulu. Hulu also offers episodes of series like The Simpsons, The Great North, and Family Guy—all of which offer quirky takes on American family life. But what makes Koala Man feel so fresh is its take on life in Australia, a topic Cusack also mines for excellent comedy in YOLO: Crystal Fantasy.
