Kings defenceman Drew Doughty has been placed on the injured reserve and is expected to miss about eight weeks due to a right knee contusion.
Doughty sustained the injury this past Friday against the Dallas Stars.
The Kings are expecting Doughty to resume skating in approximately six weeks and return to play in about eight weeks. The 31-year-old from London, Ont., is in his 14th season with the Kings, who drafted him second overall in 2008.
