In his latest 'Quarantine Minilogue' on YouTube, the late-night television host skewered Trump's plans to reopen business by Easter.
Jimmy Kimmel may not be on the air amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but he is still taking President Donald Trump to task in new comedic"minilogues" filmed at home and shared on YouTube.by Easter Sunday in April, even as confirmed cases of COVID-19, and deaths from the disease, continue to rise. There have been over 55,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the U.S., according to Johns Hopkins University, and just over 800 deaths as of Wednesday morning.
But during a Fox News virtual town hall address on Tuesday, Trump said,"You can destroy a country this way, by closing it down, where it literally goes from being the most prosperous — I mean, we had the best economy in the history of our country three weeks ago. And then all of a sudden, we're supposed to shut it down." He added,"I would love to have the country opened up and just raring to go by Easter.
Kimmel said that in the town hall Trump"once again defied the so-called experts who say we're in this for a while." He joked,"Easter? That's in two-and-a-half weeks. Even Jesus is like, 'Jesus, calm down, let's think this through.'" "We're all going to die so the president can eat Peeps," Kimmel added, referring to the marshmallow snack whose parent company has shut down its factory over an outbreak of the coronavirus.
